So, independent of the mechanism used to reject or tag the events associated to neutrons, their rather small number is expected to play a secondary role in the total background compared with other main sources of background. A preliminary evaluation of the influence of the environmental background in Gran Sasso resulted in a negligible contribution for the 0 ; region and a contribution similar to that of bulk contaminations for the dark matter region.
